Personal Laptops (high school only)
If a high school Scholar has a need for a laptop, GenOne will work with them and their families to provide them with one.

Ask if you qualify for “Access Charlotte” to receive free internet access
If not, request a digital navigator to assist with signing up for the Federal Government’s Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP). Residents will have the opportunity to choose an Internet Service Provider (ISP) that best fits their area of coverage and receive up to $30 off their internet bill, if eligible.
Have a Digital Navigator assist you with any of the following:

Learning new digital skills

Housing assistance
Mecklenburg County Housing Support Program
The Helping Out Mecklenburg homeowners with Economic Support (HOMES) Program is returning for another season: July 1 – Nov. 22, 2024.
Provides grant funding to qualifying residential homeowners to help address the rising costs of retaining their homes.
Provides homeownership education and down payment assistance for qualified homebuyers
Search tool to help find affordable housing
Helps stabilize Mecklenburg County families with life’s basic needs: emergency rent and utility assistance, clothing, household goods, and appliances.
Customers experiencing hunger may also receive referrals to local food providers, federal food support programs, and access to an onsite emergency pantry.
Child care
High quality pre-K education open to all four-year-old children in Mecklenburg County, at no cost to families.
A private, non-profit, child care resource and referral (CCR&R) agency that works with families and communities to help ensure that all children have access to high-quality, affordable early learning and school-age opportunities and experiences.
Legal services
Provides support to North Carolinians who are unable to afford an attorney.
Food
Starting September 1: Scholars can sign up for meal bundles. If they qualify for free or reduced lunch, or attend one of these Schools (list here), they will get 5 free breakfast and lunch meal packs delivered to their bus stop each week.

Health & wellness
Hope Community Clinic of East Charlotte
Charlotte’s premier clinic that offers medical and counseling services in a combined facility, for Charlotte families that are facing personal and family struggles and challenges.
Charlotte Community Health Clinic
The Clinic offers primary care, specialty care, behavioral health services, and health and wellness education services. It bridges the gap to health and wellness for those without other means of medical care and dental care.
If our Scholars or their families need professional mental health support through these challenging times, Anderson Counseling is a great resource.
Cost of care is covered with Medicaid and virtual clients meetings are available. Other insurance forms are also accepted. Call: 704-208-4458.

The center also has masks, COVID test kits, health supplies and access to medical care.
Mental health services for individuals, groups, and family therapy. All services can be provided in English or Spanish.
Providing adolescent medicine and behavioral health services, education, advocacy, leadership development, and research.
Time Out Youth is a place where LGBTQ+ youth ages 13-24 can experience a sense of belonging and community. Time Out Youth supports LGBTQ+ youth in the Charlotte, NC area by offering vital programs, fostering unconditional acceptance, and creating safe spaces for self-expression through leadership, community support and advocacy.
No cost vision screenings, eye exams and glasses to children in low-income communities.
